About Ivory Coast
Population 31.5M
- It's the world's largest exporter of cocoa beans — the crop behind a huge share of the planet's chocolate.
- French is official, but around 78 languages are spoken across the country, from Dyula to Baoulé to Bété.
- Its political capital, Yamoussoukro, began as President Houphouët-Boigny's home village, which he poured fortunes into transforming.
- From 2012 to 2023 its economy grew about 7.1% a year — among the fastest rates anywhere in the world.
- In the 1880s and 90s, Samori Touré's Wassoulou Empire fiercely resisted French conquest until his capture in 1898.

Ivory Coast 1–0 Ecuador
For eighty-nine minutes this threatened to be the one that got away, and then it wasn't. Amad Diallo struck in the ninetieth, Wilfried Singo supplying, to settle a match Ivory Coast had edged on chances without ever putting away. Fifteen shots, four on target, an xG of 1.52 against Ecuador's 1.01 — the margins were thin and the resolution arrived right at the death. They made the better afternoon count when it mattered most. Sometimes patience is just nerve worn long.

Ivory Coast 1–2 Germany
They led Germany, and they led them for the better part of an hour. Kessié's strike just before the half was no smash-and-grab — Ivory Coast defended it with their teeth, their goalkeeper turning aside everything Germany threw until the resistance finally cracked. Undav's equaliser was a blow; his winner in the ninety-fourth was the cruel one, arriving the moment a point looked won. The expected-goals line of 1.23 says this was no fluke lead. Beaten, yes, but by ninety minutes that announced Ivory Coast can live with anyone. The margin will sting; the performance shouldn't.

Ivory Coast 2–0 Curacao
Ivory Coast did what a side of their pedigree should against opponents ranked forty-fifth in the field: they found the quality when it mattered and never let the game wobble. Nicolas Pepe was that quality, scoring inside seven minutes and again past the hour to put the result beyond doubt. Curacao, giving away a vast gap in resources, made the Ivorians work for stretches and kept the score respectable. But class told, calmly and twice. This was a professional's afternoon, and Ivory Coast will be content with exactly that as the tournament deepens.

Ivory Coast 1–2 Norway
Ivory Coast had the territory, the fourteen corners and the belief, and it still was not enough. Antonio Nusa put Norway ahead before the break; Amad Diallo hauled his side level on seventy-four with the game there to be won. Then Erling Haaland did what Erling Haaland does, settling it on eighty-six. For all their pressure Ivory Coast created only 1.36 expected goals to Norway's 2.02 — the better chances were always at the other end. Brave, and beaten by the game's best finisher.

Friendship blends realized national co-starts with a club-chemistry bonus, so a settled XI and a club-spine squad both score high. Near 100 the total eases so the most-settled squads stay separated rather than all tying out. Gold lines trace the spine: teammates who share a club right now.
