    Panama 01 Ghana

Panama did everything the textbook asks and lost anyway. Sixty-four percent of the ball against Ghana, and then, in the ninety-fifth minute, Christopher Yirenkyi settled it with what was effectively the only meaningful attack of the night. The expected goals finished at a featherweight 0.13 to 0.03 in Panama's favour — a reminder that neither side truly threatened until the one strike that mattered. To control a game this completely and leave with nothing is the cruelest result in the group so far. They deserved more than this, and they know it.

Full time · The Report Undone by one moment

    Panama 01 Croatia

For an hour Panama did the hard part, smothering a more illustrious opponent and giving Croatia almost nothing to work with. Then Ante Budimir found a yard from a set-piece, and a single moment was all this game had in it. The reply never came — one shot, none on target, an expected-goals figure barely off zero tells of a side with no out-ball when they needed one. There is no disgrace in a one-nil to Croatia, defended this stubbornly. But a point was there for the taking, and it slipped on the only lapse.

Full time · The Report An hour of defiance

    Panama 02 England

For an hour Panama did everything they came to do. Ranked forty-second in the field and giving away a vast gap in pedigree, they sat deep, stayed compact, and frustrated an England side full of expensive talent. Then the quality told, as it so often does: Jude Bellingham's strike just after the hour broke the resistance, and Harry Kane's quick second settled it. An expected-goals line of 1.49 to 0.57 reflects the gulf, but twelve shots and four goalkeeper saves the other way show Panama did not simply sit and admire. Beaten, but far from disgraced.

Friendship blends realized national co-starts with a club-chemistry bonus, so a settled XI and a club-spine squad both score high. Near 100 the total eases so the most-settled squads stay separated rather than all tying out. Gold lines trace the spine: teammates who share a club right now.
