England 4–2 Croatia
Four-two flatters no one and entertained everyone. England were the better side — twenty-two shots, eleven on target, an expected-goals line of 2.8 — but Croatia twice refused to go away, Martin Baturina and Petar Musa hauling them level at 2-2 before the break. Harry Kane's brace, one from the spot, set the tone; Jude Bellingham's strike just after the interval restored the lead, and Marcus Rashford's late finish made it safe. A statement of intent with a soft underbelly to fix. Thrilling to watch, less so to coach.

England 0–0 Ghana
England had the ball, the territory and the corner count, and none of it earned them more than the single point Ghana also took home. Nine corners to two and three shots on target tell of a side camped in the opposition half, but a goalkeeper in inspired form — three saves, each bigger than the last — kept the door shut. For all the pressure, the clear chance never quite arrived. Goalless, and it is England who will feel they dropped two. The pattern was right; the finishing was missing.

Full time · The Report Patient, then clinical
England 2–0 Panama
England took their time, then took control. For an hour Panama defended deep and made a nuisance of themselves, but quality of this order tends to find a way: Jude Bellingham broke the deadlock just after the hour, and Harry Kane made it two within five minutes. Sixty-seven percent of the ball, seventeen shots, an expected-goals line of 1.49 to 0.57 — once the first went in, the result never looked in doubt. Not a vintage performance, but a professional one, and the kind of controlled night serious tournament teams learn to win.

England 2–1 DR Congo
For an hour the second seed were staring at the exit. Brian Cipenga stunned England inside seven minutes, a Harry Kane penalty was cancelled by VAR before the break, and rank-thirty-two DR Congo were dreaming. Then Kane remembered who he was — two goals in eleven minutes, on seventy-five and eighty-six, to turn a scare into a win. The expected-goals line always favoured England at 2.04 to 0.8; it just took them an age to make it count. Through, and grateful.

Friendship blends realized national co-starts with a club-chemistry bonus, so a settled XI and a club-spine squad both score high. Near 100 the total eases so the most-settled squads stay separated rather than all tying out. Gold lines trace the spine: teammates who share a club right now.
